Original review: The two roof technicians that came out to do a tune-up and gutter clean were both friendly and professional. They arrived on time, took pictures of all of their work, and were thorough in their evaluation. They provided a report afterwards of their assessment of the condition of the roof and gutters, and I was pleased to see that the report was accurate and a fair assessment (no attempt to upsell through false claims of issues - everything was reported in good condition). Hugo was our assigned roof technician and he was punctual, professional, and tidy while doing work. One downside was that the workers who showed up chose to park with one of their truck tires on my lawn. What does the $199 Roof and Gutter Tune-Up include?

A full roof inspection, the attic too where there is access, small repairs such as sealing nail pops and replacing a cracked pipe boot, and a full gutter cleaning. It is $199 for homes two levels or fewer above ground and $324 for three-story homes. The homeowner must be present.

Does salt air affect roofs in Cambridge?

Yes. Salt and damp air corrode nails, flashing and metal vents faster than they wear down shingles. We check those metal parts at every inspection and recommend corrosion-resistant materials where the exposure calls for them.

Do I need approval to change the roof on a home in the historic district?

Visible exterior changes to homes in Cambridge’s historic district can require review by the city. Check with the City of Cambridge before you choose a new material or color.

Will homeowners insurance cover storm damage to my roof?

Sudden damage from wind, hail or falling limbs is often covered, minus your deductible. Wear from age usually is not. We document storm damage with photos and measurements and can meet your adjuster at the house.

Can you check a second home or rental while it is empty?

Yes. A leak in an empty house can run for weeks before anyone sees it. We schedule visits around your turnover days and send the photo report wherever you live.
